Job Description
You, as a successful candidate, will contribute key technical expertise, potentially global, which may have a direct material impact on Thomson Reuters reputation, and products. You will also act as technical team leader on projects mostly related to Time Series Interface and utilise and stay current on multiple programming languages and software technologies.
Responsibilities
• Lead the analysis and design of complex solution and requirement definition.
• Drive technical innovation.
• Ensure the solution provided by development team aligns with the overall architecture.
• Participating in project planning sessions with clients, business analysts, and team members to analyse Reuters Development requirements and provide design recommendations for complex systems.
• Working with project teams to define and design scope for each project.
• Works closely with Reuters Development planning and technology architect to assure all systems are in line with IT long term strategy.
• Providing design recommendations, developing application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces. Responsible for writing complex design specifications.
• Translates business and technical requirements into cross-functional business application systems, providing custom integration solutions including major system enhancements. Collaborates in setting development guidelines.
• Preparing and presenting status updates for various projects. Serving as an individual contributor or technical lead.
• Making complex modifications to existing software applications in accordance with high level specifications and industry standards. Reviews effort to ensure compliance to application architecture standards.
• Developing new cross-functional software systems using disciplined software development processes.
• Researching new and emerging technologies. Evaluates and makes recommendations for new tools, technologies and platforms to be implemented.
• Provides technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to application development teams.
Job Qualifications
Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related field. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
• At least five years of experience working in software development or related filed
• Strong knowledge of computer application development, implementation and analysis techniques.
• Knowledge of Distributed System Design and Implementation
• Knowledge of Web-based Enterprise Application Development and Web Service on platforms such as Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere, IIS/.Net is a plus.
• Knowledge of any of the following programming, e.g. J2EE, J2SE, C++. .NET
• Strong knowledge of C++ and knowing COM programming is a plus.
• Knowledge of XML, XML schema, Web Service technology.
• Knowledge of protocols such as HTTP, TCP and UDP
• Through understanding of SOA design guideline and best-practice would be an advantage
• Strong knowledge of effective programming techniques, design pattern and procedures for coding, testing and debugging computer software programs
• Knowledge of project management planning principles, tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of network hardware and software troubleshooting techniques.
• Skill in systems analysis, systems architecture, and developing computer applications using several programming languages and operating systems.
• Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
• Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
